Experience That Makes a Difference

People who retain our firm for their legal matter can be confident that their legal matter will be handled with a high degree of competence and care. Our founding attorney, Mart G. Fendley, has been representing clients in personal injury, criminal law and family law matters for more than 30 years.

Mart Fendley was born in Clarksville, Tennessee, on October 13, 1954. He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1973, where he played basketball and baseball. He attended Motlow State Community College on a basketball scholarship where he could also play baseball. He transferred to and graduated magna cum laude from Austin Peay State University in 1977, where he played varsity baseball for three years. He attended Austin Peay State University, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 1977 (magna cum laude). He obtained his law degree (J.D.) from Memphis State University, graduating in 1980.

He returned to Clarksville and began a general practice of law in 1980. He and Jack Rudolph formed their partnership, Rudolph and Fendley, in 1981. The 1986 merger of Rudolph and Fendley with the Law Firm of Fleming, Fleming and Ross created the firm now known as Rudolph, Ross, Fendley & Hogan. Fendley ended his general practice with the formation of the new firm and began his concentration in civil litigation with an emphasis on representing injured and disabled persons. At that time Fendley assumed the responsibility of handling all the firm's personal injury cases. Cleo Hogan joined the firm in 1987. All of the partners were "general practitioners" prior to the merger and the formation of the new firm. This experience gave each lawyer valuable experience in a wide range of legal matters.

In 1994 when certification as a specialist first became available to Tennessee attorneys, Fendley earned his certification as a board-certified civil trial lawyer. He was the first Clarksville attorney to pass the day-long written exam on the first sitting. This certification is recognized by the Tennessee Supreme Court and was granted to Fendley by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Fendley was recertified in 1999, 2004 and 2009. Fendley is a former President of the Montgomery County Bar Association.
